A Solitary Seat

When I was younger, I used to think it was strange to decorate a space with only a single chair. It seemed lonely and impractical; “If there’s only one chair, where will the other people sit?” I would wonder. Now I have realized that there is so much to love about sitting on my own and reflecting. Who knew all it would take is a beautiful single chair to find some peace and solitude?

Make an Entrance

Hey guys! We'd like to introduce to you our newest publisher of Hey Yeh, Natalie! When Erin and I spied on her Pinterest boards, we knew she would be a great fit for our blog! Nat has amazing taste in decor, typography and design! She will be bringing you fun decor inspirations once a month. Enjoy!

When Courtney asked me to be a contributor for Hey Yeh, I thought to myself: what better way to make my entrance into décor blogging than to write about entrances??? One of the trickiest parts of renovating my apartment is trying to figure out what to do with my entrance. It’s the first thing people see when they come over, it’s what welcomes me home every night, and—for people like me who are always on the go—it’s got to be extremely practical!

Here are some of the photos that are currently inspiring me… hopefully they’ll kindle some inspiration for you too!

Apartment Upgrade

I love these new items from Urban Outfitters!

I've been eyeing a black piped clothing rack for awhile, and this one is the perfect fit! At first I wanted to build one - you know DIY style and get materials from Home Depot - but then I realized it was quite complicated and decided to get one already measured out! Love the copper details and the shelving.. I also added this rug to the front, to make the loft a little homier.

I used this entertainment console as a workspace shelf. It fits perfectly under my big windows, and keeps all my papers very neat and hidden.

Lastly I got these soft and cozy grey linens to light up the bedroom. I matched it with these blue tone posters.

The Park | NYC

When we were visiting NYC a few months ago, our friend Matt brought us to The Park in Chelsea with the coolest decor! The restaurant/lounge has five unique spaces. Starting on the first floor is the main dining area with a fun retro design. Behind the restaurant is a warm, red speakeasy with funky chairs and lanterns hung from the ceiling. Walk out to the beautiful indoor garden where we sat to eat lunch. By the garden is the atrium where you can enjoy the fireplace and feel the sun gleaming in through the glass ceiling. Head on upstairs to the penthouse and sip on a cocktail while enjoying the view of the High Line.

My pasta and brussel sprouts were scrumptious, but the sandwich was a little dry. But I really enjoyed being in the space while no one was in there. And you should definitely check it out at night! It's bustling with urbanites and the space is filled with great music!
